Agora Portals International School once again supports its Christmas Solidarity Campaign with Rotary Club Palma Almudaina

The donation was formally presented this morning by Mr Rafael Barea, Headmaster of the school, to Mr Joan Martorell, President of Mallorca Sense Fam, with the collaboration of Rotary Club Palma Almudaina.

Once again, Agora Portals International School has demonstrated its strong commitment to solidarity and human values through its Christmas Solidarity Campaign, supported by Rotary Club Palma Almudaina, in aid of the Mallorcan charities Mallorca Sense Fam and Cáritas Mallorca.

This morning, Rafael Barea, Headmaster of the international school, presented Joan Martorell, President of Mallorca Sense Famnon-perishable food and hygiene products, donated by the school’s families and staff.

Mallorca Sense Fam carries out essential work on the island, as it supports more than 9,500 families every day, representing around 23,000 people who unfortunately do not have guaranteed access to food in Mallorca. Thanks to the collaboration of educational institutions, social organisations and volunteers, these families are able to receive support to meet their most basic needs.

One of the fundamental pillars of Agora Portals International School is the transmission of values, with the aim of educating students not only academically, but also personally, so that they may become responsible, committed and socially aware adults. For this reason, once again the school has promoted two solidarity campaigns among students, families and staff, focused on the collection of non-perishable food and second-hand toys, to support the most vulnerable families on the island.

These initiatives are supported by Rotary Club Palma Almudaina, particularly in a context where, regrettably, the number of families lacking basic necessities continues to grow. As stated by the Headmaster, Rafael Barea:

“In Mallorca there are, unfortunately, many families who have nothing to eat and who need our help in order to move forward. As an educational community, we have a responsibility to contribute and to raise awareness among our students of this reality.”

Although the entire Agora Portals community has actively taken part in the campaign, special mention should be made of the IB Diploma Programme students, through the subject CAS (Creativity, Activity and Service), who have played a key role in driving the campaign on a daily basis by organising the collections and encouraging participation among students and families.

The school would like to remind all families that the toy collection campaign will remain open until 13th January.
