Celebrating the XIII Globeducate International Music Festival at Agora Portals
- Presence at events
On 30th January, Agora Portals International School became the venue for a unique event That left an unforgettable mark on all those present: the XIII Globeducate International Music Festival. With boundless energy and a spirit of collaboration, 170 students from 15 Globeducate schools, representing 7 countries, came together to offer an charitable concert. After three days of rehearsals and activities, where the students not only enjoyed music but also took part in a cultural scavenger hunt about the island of Mallorca, tasted traditional ensaimadas with hot chocolate, attended a disco, participated in an informative talk on the importance of the preservation of Pipefish given by the Palma Aquarium Foundation, and visited the foundation's facilities, the participating students delivered an unprecedented concert at the Agora Portals Auditorium.
The concert, titled "Guardians of the Sea", not only celebrated the talent of our students but also highlighted the importance of preserving our seas and oceans, combining music, environmental awareness and social responsibility. The moving performances were delivered by a string orchestra, a wind band, and a choir, all coming together to convey a profound message of sustainability and environmental consciousness.
Additionally, we had the honour of welcoming the participation of the Recycled Orchestra of Cateura, a musical group formed by young people from Paraguay who, through instruments made from recycled materials, bring the magic of music to life and promote social inclusion. It was a true privilege to have them on stage! Their participation further enriched the event, demonstrating the transformative power of music and art in the lives of young people.
The evening began at 5:30pm with an exhibition by local artist África Juan, who presented her works inspired by the sea, and Jutta Kris, artist and primary school teacher at Agora Portals, which perfectly complemented the festival’s theme. The funds raised from the sale of their pieces and the event tickets were donated to two incredible initiatives: the Recycled Orchestra of Cateura and the Palma Aquarium Foundation, which tirelessly work towards social welfare and the conservation of our natural environment.
It is a true honour for us to have hosted such a significant event, which not only celebrated musical excellence but also promoted personal development, inclusion, and sustainability. The tickets, which sold out quickly, reflected the community's support and interest in contributing to such important causes.
As Sr. Barea said: ‘As Head of Agora Portals International School, I am proud to have been able to promote this international meeting of our Globeducate group between children from different cultures and backgrounds, who, united by music, have spent a week together and shared this experience of solidarity, which has undoubtedly contributed positively to their personal development. Likewise, the participation as special guests of the Cateura Recycling Orchestra in our school has been a wonderful experience that has awakened in all of us the hope to continue working with determination to make the world a better place’.
The event was presided over by the Mayor of Calvià, Juan Antonio Amengual, the Conseller d’Educació, Antoni Vera, and the school’s headmaster, Rafael Barea. It also had the presence of Globeducate's CEO Luca Uva, Carolina Rodríguez, CEO for Spain and Andorra, Vicenç Gandol, General Director of Agora Spain and Andorra, Daniel Jones, Chief Education Officer of Globeducate, as well as other members of Globeducate and heads and deputy heads from the participating schools.
A big thank you to everyone who was part of this event: students, families, artists, authorities, and collaborators. The success of the Globeducate International Music Festival is a powerful example of what can be achieved when we come together for a common purpose. Thank you for joining us on this beautiful journey towards a more charitable and sustainable future!
