STEAM: Science and Arts
Science, technology, engineering, arts and mathematics play a crucial part in every student's learning journey. At Agora Portals International School, we embed creativity in all activities related to these subjects, helping students learn how to make connections, how to organize their ideas, how to be creative, how to make decisions and how to work together across different disciplines.
Artists and scientists share the same skills and abilities, which is why in Agora Portals International School we give a leading role to all the subject areas that comprise them. For this reason, we work with LEGO® Education SPIKE ™ Prime to provide our students with the best learning skills in programming and robotics. Thanks to the software and activities adapted to the needs of our students and the specific training of our teachers, they are able to learn the tools with which they need to advance in the exciting and intuitive world of different programming languages.
In addition to the above, at Agora Portals International School, we work with music and the expressive arts for the all-round development of children, bringing enormous cognitive and personal benefits, as well as strengthening their communication skills. The reason why we carry out this musical education is to encourage the development and improvement of special talents, together with values such as effort and self-improvement, sensitivity, organisation and teamwork.
Our Music Education Project aims to provide an active experience of music. Our pupils are introduced to the world of music in a sensory way in the Infant Education stage and this knowledge is deepened throughout Primary Education, when they begin to study a musical instrument and we encourage them to have contact with music practically every day.
The school is an Official Music Conservatory, which allows our pupils to obtain the Elementary Music Degree and to continue their studies, optionally and in a compatible timetable, to obtain the Professional Music Degree. All pupils who have begun their studies at our school between the ages of 3 and 8 obtain the Elementary Grade of Music diploma at the end of Primary Education. Those pupils who, during ESO and Baccalaureate, decide to continue with professional music education, will obtain the Music Professional Degree at the end of Baccalaureate.
The creative and performing arts are also of great importance in the integral education of pupils, strengthening their intellectual capacities. Through art, children think for themselves and develop their creativity, imagination, artistic sensitivity and emotions. Our pupils have access to artistic disciplines and creative arts such as music, painting, drawing and Visual Arts to stimulate them to create, learn and innovate.
Finally, in the Public Speaking classes we work on communication skills for public speaking and debating in Spanish and English so that they develop into confident, organised and respectful conversationalists.
