Sports and Well-being
The natural environment surrounding our school is ideal for sporting activities, which help pupils to develop and foster values such as perseverance, self-improvement, teamwork and cooperation, as well as strengthening their social skills. At Agora Portals International School, sport is an integral part of the curriculum, instilling in our pupils a passion for sport and healthy habits so that they become physically and emotionally balanced adults.
Our students have access to the Agora International Sports Club, where the football, basketball and volleyball teams compete in the different federated leagues. They have at their disposal an indoor sports hall with a semi-Olympic swimming pool, tennis, basketball and handball courts, a municipal football pitch, an international chess school and more than 20 specialised teachers. In addition, thanks to the natural surroundings, the magnificent location of the centre by the sea and our agreement with the Puerto Portals Sailing School, students have the opportunity to practice sailing.
Healthy education
In the Physical Education and International Sports classes our pupils play both national and international sports: baseball, hockey, rugby, acrosport, dodgeball, badminton, table tennis, ultimate frisbee, football, basketball, volleyball and handball. In addition, we offer the following sports schools: judo, football, basketball, volleyball and chess. We also attach great importance to swimming, one of the most complete exercises to help physical development and balance body and mind. All Infant and Primary pupils practise swimming during school hours as a curricular subject and, if they wish, they can do more sessions as an extracurricular activity and even take part in the competitive Swimming Club.
The sports training is completed throughout the academic year with sporting events organised by the school and the Globeducate group, which promote sport, healthy competition and international education, such as the Globeducate Olympic Games, in which more than 500 sportsmen and women from different schools around the world compete. In addition, training in wellbeing is complemented by a comprehensive health project with which we educate in nutrition and healthy eating habits.
Dining room:
At Agora Portals International School we offer a healthy, sustainable menu which meets all the needs of what our pupils require on a daily basis. Working with nutritionists and carried out by our chef and his team in the school kitchen, the aim we want to achieve is to promote healthy eating habits, which is one more learning experience in their education.
Swimming
Swimming is one of the most complete sporting activities: it boosts strength, endurance and flexibility while providing important emotional and cognitive benefits, improving memory, learning and mood. Thanks to our indoor pool, at Agora Portals International School we include swimming as part of the academic curriculum at Infant, Primary, Secondary and Baccalaureate stages.
