Our School History
Agora Portals International School is a private international School in Mallorca that forms part of the Globeducate Group. Since 2008 we have been providing a high-quality, academic education, which focuses on the individual needs and aptitudes of each of the children under our care.We offer a tri-lingual, co-educational, secular education, respectful of the culture and beliefs of every member of our community. We follow the educational model of Agora Sant Cugat International School in Barcelona, a Globeducate school founded in 1989, which, since its inception, has been a beacon for innovation and excellence in international education.
Leading international education
Agora Portals International School is located in Portals Nous on the island of Majorca, and offers a multi-lingual, broad and balanced international education. Our motto is “Dignity, Respect and Hard work” and our vision focuses on:
- Helping our students to fulfil their maximum academic and personal potential
- Providing an integrated, all-round education
- Creating an open and supportive learning environment
English forms an essential part of teaching and learning at Agora Portals International School and most classes are delivered in English. Students sit official Trinity College and Cambridge English board examinations in order to monitor their progress, record their achievements and to provide them with internationally recognised English qualifications.
The school also offers the following additional foreign languages at various stages of the curriculum:
- Mandarin Chinese
- German - as an option at secondary
- French - as an option at secondary
In 2011 Agora Portals International School became the first school in the Balearic Isles to offer Pre-University level students the opportunity to study the highly-renowned International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma. Pre-University level studies are structured in such a way that students can follow both the IB and the Spanish National Baccalaureate, which offers three main academic strands; Science, Humanities and the Arts.
Above and beyond standard curricular requirements, at Agora Portals International School we offer our students an excellent musical education, which we believe to play a vital role in the development of well-rounded, well-educated young people. All our pupils learn at least one instrument, develop their singing and vocal skills and are encouraged to play and perform with their classmates and in bands, choirs and orchestras. Agora Portals International School is registered as an official Music Academy and students can therefore sit their Elementary Grade music exams and go on to study Professional Grade examinations should they wish to pursue their musical studies to a higher level.
