Recognised by FORBES magazine as one of the top 50 schools in Spain, Agora Portals International School is the only school on the list in the Balearic Islands.Furthermore, as part of the Agora family of schools, with a total of 7 private and international schools, we live a constant process to achieve educational excellence which began 50 years ago in schools in Cataluña, the Balearic Islands, Madrid, Andalucía, Comunidad Valenciana and Andorra.
Our goal is to provide our pupils with a broad and balanced, all-round education and to inspire a lifelong passion for learning. We offer a comprehensive, innovative and international education for children aged from 0 to 18 years old. The school’s site and facilities are carefully designed to promote a positive and stimulating working environment and we aim to provide an excellent academic education built upon strong ethical foundations.
The aim of the school is to prepare global citizens of all abilities to achieve academic and personal success.
Our methodology
At Agora Portals International School we are convinced that a complete education should not be understood as the sum of different areas, but as the result of the global integration of all of them. For this reason, at Agora Portals, the education given to pupils is global in nature. We are dedicated to preparing citizens of the world, with all the skills necessary to face the professional challenges they may encounter throughout their working lives.
We encourage integration, as all our students form a unique community in which every way of thinking has a place, always within the values of respect and education towards other people.
Our facilities, equipped with everything necessary to meet the needs of our project and comprehensive training at each stage, play an important role in our methodology. Our aim is training people capable of achieving academic and personal success.
Families, Pupils, Teachers and Alumni
The Agora Portals International School family incorporates students, families, teachers, former alumni, non-teaching staff and the leadership teams, all working together to achieve a common goal: the happiness and success of our students. This is not only an educational objective, but a way of life, which is why positive home-school communication and active participation from every member of our community is an essential factor in the success of our educational programme.
Families
The home-school relationship is an extremely important part of life at Agora Portals. To ensure each student’s optimal progress, families, the pupils themselves and their teachers are all fully involved in monitoring progress and in making the decisions that will affect each pupil’s future. We encourage open communication and take into consideration each family’s individual circumstances. Clear, positive and on-going home-school communication is an important factor in pupil progress and for this reason we aim to ensure that families are provided with detailed information about the school’s teaching and learning methodologies, as well as any decisions that could affect students’ personal and academic process.
In addition to information relating to teaching strategies and pupil progress, Agora Portals International School runs a programme called “Family School”, where talks are organised for parents on subjects such as online bullying, alcohol and drugs and internet safety. These talks are delivered by experts in each field and form part of the school’s commitment to providing an integrated education. Parents are also invited to participate in various events organised by the school, including our annual 7 km fun run!
Pupils
Our pupils are at the heart of everything that we do. As educators we are focused on helping them to fulfil their maximum potential and on helping them find their own pathway to academic and personal success.
Evolving in a national and international, multilingual environment allows them to learn different languages and values and to open their minds in a tolerant and respectful way. The curriculum is supported by sporting activities, music and art so that pupils develop added value for their present and future.
In addition, creative thinking is developed from an early age and throughout all stages of education. They learn to think independently with the help of the new technologies that are so present in the information and knowledge society in which we live. Our aim is to ensure that our pupils acquire the skills, qualifications and attributes necessary to be able to follow their dreams and fulfil their personal and professional ambitions.
Teachers
We have a selected teaching staff who are responsible for transmitting their enthusiasm and passion. Each student is an individual and unique being, which is why we offer personalised attention with support programmes that promote motivation, stimulation and self-improvement. We make each pupil the protagonist in this complex process of development.
English is the school's flagship language and for this reason most subjects are taught in English. Teachers teach entirely in English and ensure that pupils also communicate with each other in English. In order to provide the best possible language teaching, we employ teachers who are native English speakers or bilingual, or who have spent long periods of time in English-speaking countries.
Alumni
The former pupils of Agora Portals International School are a clear example of the results obtained after years of hard work, effort and dedication. We are proud to see that their comprehensive preparation has successfully guided them towards their professional and academic future and, above all, that they have grown as people with values such as respect, effort and companionship.
